Our drama film will follow the struggles of Maddie, a 16-year-old girl, who struggles with depression.
The movie will start with the last day of school. Maddie is just walking alone in the hallway then as the bell rings all the students run out of their classrooms. As she exits the school, she sees all her classmates talking avidly about their plans for the summer, but Maddie keeps walking to the parking lot, not talking to anyone and being indifferent about this special day. She gets into her car with two other ‘friends’ who sit in the front and talk about what they are doing this summer; Maddie just stays quiet.
When she enters her house, she calls for her mom, but no one answers. Maddie walks into the kitchen and gets herself some food, she sits down and unlocks her phone. She goes into her and her friend’s chat and types a message asking to hang out. Before sending it, she opens Instagram and sees that the same friend already had plans. She goes back to the message and deletes it. Feeling hopeless, Maddie goes into her room, drops her school bag, closes the blinds, and turns on a little lamp by her bed.
She starts looking for her special writing pen, which was gifted to her by her long-distance best friend, she struggles to find it but refuses to write with anything else. Once she finds it, she grabs her diary from her nightstand and begins to write her struggles away. Maddie talks about how she is not looking forward to these couple of months and how she isn't even sure if she wants to live this summer. Right as she finished writing, her mom knocks on the door, she walks in and insists on going out for ice cream as a way to enjoy summer. The opening will end with both of them leaving the house.
The rest of the movie will continue to develop her ongoing struggles, her past friendships, and why she fell into a depressive state, and the film will end with Maddie’s suicide. Some things described may be different when it comes to our final project since we may need to cut some things out or add more scenes.
